What is a sleep regression, and how do I handle it?
Sleep regressions are temporary periods (usually 1–4 weeks) when a baby who was sleeping well suddenly starts waking frequently, fighting naps, or being fussy at bedtime. They commonly occur around 4, 6, 8, and 12 months and are tied to developmental leaps — learning to roll, crawl, or stand. Maintain your routines, offer comfort, and avoid introducing new sleep crutches you'll need to wean later. It will pass. Consult your pediatrician if sleep disruption lasts more than 4 weeks or is accompanied by illness symptoms.
