Should I worry about my preschooler's stuttering?

Mild stuttering (repeating sounds or words, pausing mid-sentence) is common between ages 2–5 as children's language skills develop faster than their speech muscles can keep up. Most children outgrow it within 6 months. However, seek evaluation if stuttering lasts longer than 6 months, worsens over time, involves visible tension or frustration, or if there's a family history of stuttering. A speech-language pathologist can assess whether therapy is needed. Discuss any concerns with your pediatrician.
