What health screenings and vaccinations does my teenager need?
Teens should have annual well-visits including blood pressure, BMI, vision, hearing, and depression screening. Key vaccinations include HPV (starting at age 11–12), Tdap booster, meningococcal vaccine, and annual flu shot. Your pediatrician may also screen for scoliosis, anemia, cholesterol, and STIs depending on risk factors. Discuss sensitive topics with your teen present — they're learning to manage their own healthcare. The AAP recommends teens start having some private time with the doctor to discuss confidential concerns.
