Why does my newborn cry so much in the evening?

Evening fussiness (sometimes called the 'witching hour') is extremely common and usually peaks around 6 weeks, then improves by 3–4 months. Holding, swaddling, gentle rocking, and white noise can help. If crying is inconsolable for hours, discuss colic with your pediatrician.
