How do I bond emotionally with my newborn?

Skin-to-skin contact, responsive feeding, gentle touch, and talking or singing to your baby all build secure attachment. Responding promptly to your newborn's cries teaches them that the world is safe and their needs matter — you cannot 'spoil' a newborn with too much attention. Bonding takes time, and it's normal if it doesn't feel instant. If you're struggling to connect, talk to your pediatrician about postpartum mood changes.
