Should my preschooler know the alphabet and numbers?
By age 4, many children recognize some letters and can count to 10. By age 5, most know the full alphabet and can count to 20+. However, there's a wide range of normal. Focus on making learning playful—through songs, books, and games—rather than drilling. Formal academics come in kindergarten.
