How do I help my child deal with bullying?
Listen calmly when your child tells you about bullying and validate their feelings — don't dismiss or minimize their experience. Notify the school (principal, counselor, or teacher) so they can monitor the situation and intervene. Research shows that having even one close friendship can protect children against the negative effects of chronic bullying. Help your child build confidence through activities they excel at. Consult your pediatrician if bullying is affecting your child's mental health or school performance.
