Should I be concerned that my toddler isn't walking yet?

Most children take their first steps between 9 and 15 months, with some not walking independently until 18 months — all within the normal range. Late walkers are often early talkers or vice versa. What matters more is progression: are they pulling to stand, cruising along furniture, and showing interest in movement? If your child isn't walking by 18 months, isn't bearing weight on their legs, or seems to have weakness on one side, request an evaluation. Consult your pediatrician, who can assess whether a referral to early intervention is appropriate.
