My toddler seems unusually advanced — should I have them assessed?
Signs of advanced development include early language (speaking in full sentences before age 2), intense curiosity, long attention spans for complex tasks, and strong memory. However, early development doesn't always predict long-term giftedness, and all toddlers develop at different paces. If you're curious, a developmental pediatrician or child psychologist can assess your child, but formal gifted testing is typically most reliable after age 4–5. Discuss your observations with your pediatrician.
