My teenager wants more privacy. How much should I allow?

Increasing need for privacy is a normal part of identity development. Allow reasonable privacy—a closed bedroom door, private conversations with friends, a personal journal. Balance this with staying connected: eat meals together, show interest in their life, and know their friends. Trust should be the baseline, with boundaries adjusted if safety concerns arise.
