How do I encourage physical activity in a screen-obsessed teen?

Find activities that align with your teen's interests rather than prescribing exercise — active video games, dance, hiking, martial arts, or skateboarding all count. Teens still need 60 minutes of physical activity daily, but it doesn't have to be formal sports. Exercising together as a family, limiting sedentary screen time, and emphasizing how activity improves mood and energy (not just fitness) can motivate reluctant teens. Talk to your pediatrician if your teen is consistently inactive.
