What toys and activities support my infant's development?
From 6–12 months, babies benefit from toys that encourage grasping, shaking, banging, and exploring cause-and-effect: stacking cups, rattles, soft balls, textured books, and simple musical instruments. Floor time is essential — provide safe space for rolling, crawling, and pulling to stand. Peek-a-boo builds object permanence; dropping and retrieving toys teaches cause and effect. Avoid screen-based toys; human interaction is far more developmentally beneficial. Rotate toys to maintain novelty. Discuss motor and cognitive milestones with your pediatrician.
