When and how should I introduce common allergens to my baby?
The AAP now recommends introducing peanut, egg, dairy, and other major allergens around 4–6 months of age, once your baby is eating solid foods. Early introduction has been shown to significantly reduce allergy risk — delaying may actually increase it. For high-risk babies (severe eczema or existing egg allergy), allergy testing before peanut introduction is advised. Introduce one allergen at a time and wait 2–3 days before trying the next. Always discuss your baby's specific risk level with your pediatrician.
