📚 School Age · 6–12 years ⚠️ Food Allergies & Sensitivities

How do I help my child self-manage their food allergy at school and parties?

By school age, children can begin learning to read food labels, ask 'Does this have [allergen] in it?' and politely decline unsafe foods. Role-play scenarios at home: birthday parties, cafeteria trades, peer pressure to try foods. Ensure the school has an emergency action plan on file and that your child knows where their epinephrine is kept. A medical alert bracelet provides an extra layer of safety. Review self-management skills with your pediatrician or allergist regularly.
