🎨 Preschool · 3–5 years ⚠️ Food Allergies & Sensitivities

How do I help my preschooler understand and talk about their food allergy?

Teach simple, clear language: 'Peanuts make my tummy very sick, so I can't eat them.' Practice role-playing: 'What do you say if someone offers you a cookie at a birthday party?' ('I need to ask my mom first.') Read children's books about food allergies to normalize their experience. Avoid language that makes them feel different or defective — frame it as 'Your body is special and needs special care.' Ensure preschool teachers are trained and have an action plan. Review allergy education with your pediatrician or allergist.
