How do I support a teen who wants to search for their birth parents?

Curiosity about birth parents is normal and healthy — it's about identity, not rejection of your family. Support their search without taking it personally. Be honest about what you know and help them access appropriate channels (adoption agency, DNA testing, registries). Set realistic expectations: reunions can be joyful, disappointing, or complicated. Ensure your teen has emotional support throughout the process — a therapist experienced in adoption issues is valuable. Discuss the emotional impact with your pediatrician.
