When and how should I introduce solid foods to my baby?
Most babies are ready for solids around 6 months, when they can sit upright with support, show interest in food, and have lost the tongue-thrust reflex. Start with iron-rich single-ingredient foods: pureed sweet potato, avocado, mashed banana, or iron-fortified cereal. Introduce one new food every 2–3 days to watch for allergic reactions. Both traditional purees and baby-led weaning (soft finger foods) are valid approaches. Never give honey before 12 months. Consult your pediatrician before starting solids.
