How do I prepare my older child for a new baby sibling?

Read books about new babies together, let them feel kicks during pregnancy, and bring them to a prenatal visit to hear the heartbeat. Avoid big changes (new room, new school) in the 3 months before or after the birth. When introducing the newborn, greet your older child first, then introduce the baby together in a neutral space — not in your arms. Most children adjust within a few weeks to a couple of months. Discuss sibling preparation with your pediatrician.
