How do I foster a healthy relationship with food and bodies in my young child?

Avoid labeling foods as 'good' or 'bad' — instead, talk about foods that help us grow strong and foods we enjoy as treats. Never comment on your child's weight or body size, and be mindful of your own body talk — children internalize their parents' attitudes toward food and appearance. Emphasize what bodies can DO ('Your legs are so strong for jumping!') rather than how they look. Offer a variety of foods without pressure to eat. Discuss healthy eating habits with your pediatrician.
