What first-aid skills should every parent know?
Every parent should learn infant/child CPR, how to respond to choking (back blows for infants, abdominal thrusts for older children), and basic wound care. Keep poison control's number (1-800-222-1222) accessible and ensure fire/carbon monoxide detectors are on every level of your home. The Red Cross and AAP offer parent-focused first-aid courses. Ask your pediatrician to recommend a local class.
