How do I support my teenager's education without becoming a helicopter parent?

Shift from managing to mentoring: instead of checking assignments daily, teach organizational systems (planners, apps) and let them manage deadlines. Establish expectations ('C or above in all classes') without micromanaging the process. When they struggle, ask 'How can I help?' rather than swooping in to fix it. Let them experience natural consequences of poor planning — a low grade from procrastination teaches more than your nagging ever could. Stay engaged through conversations about what they're learning, not just their grades. Consult your pediatrician if school avoidance or academic failure suggests underlying anxiety or depression.
