How often should I bathe my newborn?

Newborns only need a bath 2–3 times per week — bathing too frequently can dry out their delicate skin. Until the umbilical cord stump falls off (usually 1–3 weeks), stick to sponge baths. Use lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free baby soap. Always keep one hand on your baby during bath time and never leave them unattended near water. Ask your pediatrician about skin care for your baby's specific needs.
